After 45 days of being held in Charleston, South Carolina, a container ship has been cleared by the U.S. Coast Guard to leave port.

As it left port, the U.S. Coast Guard requested that three tugboats accompany the vessel. The safety precautions were not relaxed after the vessel underwent repairs and testing at the pier.

An investigation found that the main cause of the incident was the disconnection of the main engine control line. In addition to the arrest, a U.S. court also briefly detained the vessel in Charleston, pending a court case. It was alleged that the vessel caused $500,000 in damage to a dock and a neighboring vessel. Details of the incident were not disclosed.

On June 5, 2024,

the vessel suffered an engine control equipment failure

while leaving the North Charleston Container Terminal on the Cooper River, in Charleston, South Carolina. The breakdown caused the vessel to reach 17 knots before the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge, forced local authorities to close it.

The breakdown on the ship did not lead to tragic events, as in Baltimore, thanks to the prompt work of the pilots and crew of the ship.
