On August 10, 2020, cracks appeared on the bulk carrier’s hull at the junction of the superstructure and the cargo hold. According to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, 3,000 tons of fuel were removed from the vessel. Satellite data shows the oil spill covers 10 square miles.
On August 6, 2020, fuel oil began leaking from a bulk carrier. The ship carried 3890 tons of fuel.
