The port of Taman with year-round navigation is located on the territory of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, in the eponymous Gulf of the Kerch Strait. The main direction is the transfer (export) of goods from the Caspian region and the Volga basin. Oil products, cereals, liquid ammonia, and liquefied gases are considered the key cargo of the Taman seaport in the Krasnodar Territory. The construction of the seaport of Taman has been underway since 2004, and has not yet been completed. It operates in the international communication mode, accepts foreign ships. In 2006, the terminal became officially known as "Taman". Two years later, the water boundaries of the seaport of Taman in the Krasnodar Territory were marked. In 2009, the captain's service was created. Ship registration is carried out around the clock. This year is considered to be the main date of commencement of the port's activity. In 2011, a grain transshipment terminal was launched. The length of the berth, which accepts vessels up to 60,000 tons for loading, is more than 2.5 thousand meters. In 2012, a module for reloading oil products was put into operation, which accepts vessels with a deadweight of over 100,000 tons. A year later, the terminal reaches its apogee in terms of oil transshipment. In numbers, this is more than 600,000 tons per month. Oil transshipment is carried out in compliance with the standards. All forces are thrown into liquidation in case of emergency spills. For example, in 2013 there was an emergency at a food terminal. 2 tons of vegetable oil were spilled. The Tamanneftegaz company localized and removed the stain from the water areas of the port within a few hours. In the same year they began to export fuel oil. In 2017, foreign investors became interested in the objects of the structure. The grain complex has already passed to the Canadian company. She intends to sponsor his further growth and development.

Cargo handling, as well as in general, the work of the structure is not satisfactory. There are 13 berths with little wear and tear, not exceeding 10%. The port accepts ships up to 300 meters and a draft of up to 18.5 meters. The depth of the approach varies between 20-25 meters. There are 4 terminals for transshipment of goods with a length of about 940 meters (the throughput figure exceeds 60 million tons per year). Berths 3 and 4 are equipped for transshipment of grain, a TPK complex has been built. Work is also underway on the transshipment of hydrocarbon gases. Stevedoring companies are located in the port. Taman is often visited by the president.

The maritime shipping channel can be called promising due to its favorable geographical location. The peninsula in the Black Sea, on which, not far from Cape Iron Horn, the port of Taman is located, has a flat relief. There is where to build infrastructure and even railway approaches. The creation of powerful terminals on the Kerch Yenikal Canal makes it possible to solve an important task facing the seaports of Russia. The problem of redirecting and attracting export cargo flows from the CIS countries and not only is being solved. Our goods will be sent to countries located in the waters of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The hope is that Taman will overtake Baltic Primorsk in the rating of Russian Seaports. The strategic facility in the Kerch Strait looks impressive. Zigzag pontoons, receding into the distance and majestic foreign ships.
The construction of the seaport of Taman continues. Access railway lines from Portovaya station are being reconstructed, centers are being completed. Bridge transport structures of the water area will merge with road and railway lines in the area of Tuzla and Chushka. Five interchanges are planned, and possibly 8 factories. Maybe the small tourist village Volna will eventually become the second Novorossiysk. But while the port accurately complements the city and unloads Tuapse. Transport approaches connected to the Crimean bridge allow transshipment of goods through the Crimea and the Taman Peninsula.
