The history of the Svir shipyard plant dates back to 1940, it was this year that the USSR government decided to build a shipyard on the Svir River. Initially, the Rivne shipyard was located at the construction site of the plant, but it was flooded after they finished building the Verkhnesyversky hydroelectric power station. That is, the transformation of the Rovskaya shipyard into Svirskaya began just before the start of World War II. The shipyard was built with the expectation of producing wooden ships. At the initial stage of construction, several temporary buildings were built, as well as several tons of building materials and various equipment were supplied. However, it was not possible to complete the shipyard, the war began, and the construction had to be stopped. The shipyard was located in the front line, as a result, everything that was built was completely destroyed. The shipyard received its second life at the end of the war, in 1945, on April 13, a new decree was signed on the creation of the Siver Shipbuilding Shipyard in the village of Nikolskoye (Podporozhsky District, LO).

The organization of the construction of a new shipyard was entrusted to the Syassky shipyard, owned by the river shipping company of the North-West. As a result, after the completion of construction, the shipyard would get its current name. Work on the construction of a new shipyard was begun in April 1945, a new construction plan was originally developed. Including the calculation was made for the production capacity of the new enterprise, it was assumed that after the completion of construction, the shipyard will produce at least 40 barges from wood. Each barge had to have a carrying capacity of at least 1000 tons. According to the project, the shipyard was planned to be built in two stages, the above parameters for release belonged to the first stage. At the same time, the 2nd stage of the shipyard suggested the release of barges with a carrying capacity of which could reach 8,000 tons. Since the summer of 1946, the shipyard has become the property of the Central North-Western Directorate of Wooden Shipbuilding (shipbuilding trust of the USSR Minirechflot).

In 1953, it was decided to expand production, the Ministry placed an order to develop a project for the shipbuilding workshop (at the end of construction it was included in the Svir shipyard). The development of this project was entrusted to Lengiprorechtrans, according to the new concept, the project did not provide for the construction of wooden barges. According to the new project, the shipyard was supposed to switch to the construction of railway parking ships. The new capacities and production of modern ships significantly increased the role of the shipyard, as a result of which on May 31, 1956 it received the status of production of republican significance. In the future, production was expanded even more, in the period from 1958 to 1964, the existing workshops were added and put into operation: a building workshop, a slipway platform, as well as a trigger. Ships at this production were produced according to the projects of Lengiprorechtrans, subsequently the Soyuzproektverf company became the main designer. In the future, the shipyard comes under the control of the Lensovnarkhoz. In 1965, this department was abolished, as a result, the Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry became the new owner of the shipyard. Over the next 20 years, the production line and final products of the shipyard did not change. However, with the advent of 1985, the production line was changed, a new production appeared, on which the construction of amphibian hovercraft was carried out. Over the next 20 years, more than 250 hovercraft amphibian boats were built at the shipyard. These were boats on projects: Cheetah, Puma, Alligator, Argo.

The form of ownership of the enterprise changed again with the advent of 1991, this year a new Charter of the Svirskaya Shipbuilding Shipyard was considered and adopted. In 1992, the enterprise was re-registered, now it began to belong to the state and was called the Svir Shipbuilding Shipyard. And on August 4, 1993, the shipyard became JSC Svirskaya Shipyard. Since 1997, the shipyard has been subordinate to the MEIF of the Russian Federation, and today the company is subordinate to the Federal Agency for Industry. Today, the company is engaged in the construction of ships and ships, as well as floating structures. The head of the enterprise is Igor Alekseevich Vyshegorodtsev, owns the plant of JSC "Central Committee of the FPG" HIGH-SPEED FLEET. " Today, the company has a current state order for the construction of 10 amphibian boats of the Argo project.
