Shipyard Port of Kolomna
Kolomna is an old city of the Moscow Region, located on the banks of three rivers (Moscow-River, Oka and Kolomenka). For several centuries of its existence, the city was a tasty object for the rulers of the Russian principalities, it was completely ruined by the Tatars, conquered by Polish troops, but it was always restored, and it became more beautiful.
Due to its geographical location, Kolomna has a river port, the history of which began with a pier built in the distant XII century. The main area of activity of the company in modern conditions is cargo transportation by river transport, the share of which in the all-Russian volume is 4%.
Each year, a new vessel is laid or launched in the shipbuilding sites of the port. On May 20, 2022, at the shipyard of the port of Kolomna, the start of construction of a new vessel was solemnly announced. On this occasion, a large number of citizens and guests of honor gathered in the port. The hourly performance of the future non-self-propelled vessel allows you to collect soil and transport it at a distance of up to 400 meters, it is the fifth representative of the 4395 project built in Russia dredgers. According to the plan, the floating dredger will be launched in 2024. In a situation of comprehensive sanctions, all materials, equipment and components will be of domestic and Chinese production, which is of great economic and political importance. A very important property of the future dredger is the ability to work in almost any weather conditions. This fact confirmed that shipbuilding in the port of Kolomna is alive and developing successfully.
The history of the development of the "port of Kolomna"
The first mention of Colomna dates back to the annals of 1177. Today, this wonderful city of the Moscow region, located 100 km from Moscow along the Moscow-Ryazan highway, receives a confident impetus for its development. In the area of the city, the Moscow River connects with the Oka - one of the tributaries of the Volga. It was such a favorable geographical position that the Kolomna marina was built here in the middle of the 19th century.
In May 1858, when the first steamboats made their first voyage, May 17 is considered to be the day the pier was founded. Initially, the scale of the pier was very modest, oil was distilled into kerosene and gasoline, and wood was processed. But everything turned upside down when the Seversky Lock was built and launched in 1930. This event allowed the Moskva River to become a navigable artery and served as a powerful impetus for the development of passenger and freight traffic.
Active shipping led to the need to equip the infrastructure of the pier. The ships required repairs, especially since most of the steamboats and boats nationalized by private owners were badly worn out. Therefore, in the area of the pier began to appear:
workshops for the repair of traction motors and marine equipment;
forges;
mining of raw materials for construction work (sand and crushed stone) was mastered.
In 1975, due to a rapid increase in traffic, the marina received the status of the Kolomna port (by order of the Minister of the River Fleet of the RSFSR on April 8, 1975), and in 1994 there was a joint-stock company Port Kolomna. Today Kolomna is a city whose port was recognized as the largest in the southeast of the Moscow region. The composition of the port includes:
a shipbuilding plant, the shipbuilding of which occupies a significant place on an all-Russian scale;
the ship repair division of the port of Kolomna, where comprehensive repairs of ships are carried out;
freight sections on the Moskva River and the Oka River;
passenger transportation department;
a large number of related businesses in coastal areas and in the city itself.
