Severnaya Verf is a shipbuilding and ship repair plant in St. Petersburg, which covers an area of ​ ​ 90 hectares. In Soviet times, it was first called simply serial number 190, and then - the factory named after Zhdanov. The date of foundation is considered to be 14.11.1912 years. At first it was a small workshop belonging to the Putilov plant, where they were engaged in ships.

At the turn of the twenties, the Shipyard was called Putilovskaya. The first ships were destroyers, cruisers and minesweepers. The plant produced vessels for the navy. Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg boasts a rarity - a 1913 catamaran rescue ship. True, now it is not called Volkhov, but the Commune. The ship is part of the Black Sea Fleet and is a veteran of the First World War. The pride of the plant is the patrol ship "Blizzard" (guards). His fame began with the feat of storming the North Korean seaport of Seixing and continued during the Great Patriotic War. Merits in shipbuilding

The shipyard received many awards, two of which were the Order of Lenin and the October Revolution. In the 2000s, the plant commissioned 4 destroyers for the Chinese Navy. The shipyard is one of the largest shipbuilding centers in Russia. For all the existence of the plant, the following were built and launched:

250 small and medium warships of the type corvette, frigate, mine minesweepers;

more than 150 ships for the USSR and the Russian Navy;

over 200 deadweight vessels up to 12 tons (commercial);

At the Shipyard, more precisely, at the Putilov plant, the first domestic steam turbine destroyer Novik was built.
