Shipyard Red Forge

The emergence of the country's largest shipyard has a long history that has been born since the distant 1963. At that time, during the reign of Peter the Great, the first ship "St. Paul" was erected, which was the beginning of the largest production of an important industry now - shipbuilding. The location of the plant was a small island in Solombal, which is successfully located between two rivers. The Krasnaya Kuznitsa plant performed the main strategic function for the state - the construction of warships. Gradually, it was gaining scale, allowing three more vessels to be launched after 8 years. A few years later, thanks to the established production of important military equipment, with the help of the well-coordinated work of the state shipyard, numerical victories were won in the battle on the Black and Mediterranean Sea. In general, over the course of 150 years, about 500 ships and merchant ships were created, the production of which gradually developed before the appearance of steel steam analogues.

Main areas

At the moment, the shipyard has received large-scale development. It still occupies a leading position throughout the country, surprising with the assortment of work performed. Today it is a branch created on the basis of the merger of two plants, possessing versatile types of production activities: pipeline, woodworking, electrical installation, hull, mechanic, dock and diesel. In addition, the red forge plant Arkhangelsk carries out the following activities:

complete maintenance of docked vessels with a total weight of over 9,000 tons;

production of products from solid sheet and profile metal;

production of packing containers made of wood, used for storage and transportation of parts;

the product of repair work for diesel engines with a subsequent test period at the stand;

production and installation of water-jet engines;

timely examination of metal thickness on the vessel;

diagnostics of ship fans and their repair, if necessary;

repair and replacement of ship hatches and doors;

welding of various alloys;

inspection of fuel valves and its test at the test bench;

restoration of DC and AC generators operation.

The list of works performed by the plant is much larger than is available in this list. In addition to the main type of work, Arkhangelsk shipbuilding also performs tasks related to lifting capacity. The state has three floating docks with different allowable loads. There are also laboratories along the coastline, providing for work with heavy masses and berths of a wooden and reinforced concrete nature for the parking of ships.

What we have today

Against the background of recent events, there is an increased cargo turnover through the ports of Arkhangelsk. This, in turn, indicates the inevitable need to increase the capacity of the enterprise. Some time ago, most of the domestic ships were serviced in the countries of the nearest abroad. And, given that the shipyard of our state shows great capacity and quality of the work carried out, now there is an increase in the trend of servicing domestic vessels. Last year, this growth was expressed in 39 arrivals for ship maintenance. Now shipbuilding in Arkhangelsk has added to its list of work performed and has about 300 ships, a fourth of which operate year-round. Unlike competitors in the same Murmansk region. And against the background of similar data from the Murmansk region, Arkhangelsk shipbuilding in Russia also places ships from neighboring regions on its territory in the winter season.

The shipyard in Arkhangelsk is currently the largest representative of the repair line, which is a whole port complex. They carry out comprehensive repairs of river and marine equipment and take under the guardianship of the icebreaker and scientific fleet. The main advantage of the enterprise is its own production of components for shipping. At the same time, shipbuilding is an important dominant factor, which confidently occupies a leading position in the country. To increase production and competitiveness, an additional working group was recently introduced, which included numerical contractors, shipping companies and suppliers. Thus, the once state shipyard reliably entered the ranks of the industries of our country, having a rich past and carrying a tribute to the historical heritage.
