In September 2023, becomes the first KCC vessel to be equipped with a Silverstream Technologies air lubrication system. The Silverstream® system uses a series of air release units (ARUs) located along the flat bottom of the boat. Oil-free compressors generate pressurized air that is sent through the ARU, creating a uniform layer of microbubbles that cross the housing, thereby reducing friction between the housing and the water. This reduction results in lower net fuel consumption and subsequent CO2 emissions.
