On 23 November 2007, the ship sank in Bransfield Strait, near King George Island in the Southern Ocean and near the South Shetland Islands, after striking an iceberg. After the collision, the ship began to take on water and tilted to starboard. All 100 passengers and 53 crew members were able to get into lifeboats before being picked up by MS Nordnorge.
