USA: Tank barge crashes into bridge

On May 16, 2024,

the tank barge MMLP 321

struck the bridge between the city and Pelican Island in Galveston, Texas. Part of the railway track collapsed onto the barge. The collision damaged one of the barge's cargo tanks, and oil products entering the water were recorded on site. According to preliminary data, the navigator of the pusher tug was unable to control the ship in strong current conditions. No casualties were reported.
