A fishing boat ran aground in New Zealand. Penguin colony under threat

On September 25, 2023, the fishing vessel Austro Carina ran aground on Banks Peninsula, near picturesque Shell Bay. The captain and three crew members were found by the helicopter in perfect order. The vessel was carrying 10 tons of diesel fuel and 400 liters of oil, which are now leaking into the water.
