The port of Vyborg, located at the top of the Gulf of Vyborg in the northeastern part of the Gulf of Finland, where there are periodic run-off fluctuations in the water level, which should be taken into account by ship captains to ensure optimal loading and appropriate precipitation for safe maneuvering in the port.

The port is freezing, but navigation lasts a whole year. Ice is observed from December to April. During this period, the movement of ships to the port is ensured by icebreakers. The period of icebreaking of ships on the sea port and its passages is declared by the captain of the sea port of Vyborg.

Port Vyborg is available:

• During daylight hours, vessels up to 125 meters long and draft up to 6.5 meters at zero water level in the port.

At Vyborg, through the Sailinsky fairway, the Sailinsky Sea Canal originates, stretching inland from Finnish territory to the Sailinsky Lakes system and connecting the industrial enterprises of Finland located on their shores with the outside world.
