The non-profit organization All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters, BUT VARPE was founded in 1993.

Today, VARPE is one of the five most influential associations of the fishing industry in the world and leading in the Russian Federation, its share in the annual national catch of FBI is more than 90%.

BUT VARPE participates in expert and advisory bodies created in the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to develop draft legislative acts in the field of fisheries and the conservation of aquatic biological resources and contributes to an open discussion of initiatives to change fishing legislation, taking into account the opinion of sectoral unions and associations, fisheries enterprises.
