The Rostov-on-Don port is the important transport hub connecting several important directions opening access to vessels to 5 seas. Since 2009, the Rostov harbor received the status of seaport.

At the moment it is the largest sea trade port of Russia in the southern territories. His annual turnover of the transported cargoes reaches 18 million tons. Since 1998 the port began to work with the foreign ships that allowed to expand functionality of the harbor. Annually, about 6000 foreign courts are registered.

Brief historical information

The port in Rostov-on-Don was founded in 1750, and today, he is one of the first in the territory of Russia. Thanks to the successful geographical location, the harbor became shopping center in the south of the state at once. Active development of navigable business significantly influenced active development of the region.

Literally in 20 years of the existence, the Rostov port became an object of the state and strategic importance. Annually, goods turnover, as well as goods turnover, increased. To emphasize importance of the harbor, it is enough to specify the fact that through this seaport there passed 1/4 all Russian iron, at the same time many goods and raw materials from abroad were brought. Active increasing trade and the increased number of the ships with goods gave an impetus to development, and in 1768 the decision to build new shipyard of wood was made.

In the 19th century quantity of the accepted and distributed goods significantly I increased in the port of Rostov-on-Don. So, through it there passed the main export grain that significantly influenced navigation development. In 1839 it became steam. In the XX century, the port of Rostov became the largest in the territory of the Azovo-Chernomorsky basin.

As for transfer of cargoes, it is made by rail, taking place in relative proximity. Since 1912 the port began to accept many sea vessels. For the end of the XX century the port needed increase in capacities – if earlier only 3 terminals worked, then already 19 terminals function today.

Characteristics of port are opportunities and the description

Today Rostov-on-Don is the largest port terminal in the Russian Federation divided into 4 unloading zones: the first is located on the right coast of Don, three others – on left (the industrial zone "Over the river", Aksay, the Rostov ladles).

The port has all necessary hardware for an overload of vessels and the subsequent sending goods and raw materials. There are enough opportunities at a time to accept 16 freighters whose loading capacity doesn't exceed 5000 tons.

Existence of own ice breakers, allows the staff of port round "to support" year navigation. The department of boundary examination located in the territory opens/closes access to the state border of the Russian Federation. Besides him, in the territory there are representative offices of such departments as Rosselkhoznadzor and Rospotrebnadzor. As well as all seaports of Russia, in Rostov there is a customs post. The area of the territory of port is 100 Hectares. For comfortable work, the port is equipped with modern moorings.

For implementation of loading and unloading of the ships, in port about 30 pieces of equipment are applied. From them a half – the cranes capable to move cargoes to 65 tons. For warehousing of containers and not spoiling goods there are open places of warehousing, of 90000 m. For control passing acceleration, one post of customs and three posts of border control functions here.

Safe navigation – guarantee of development and performance

The port opens access to 5 seas and further to oceans that does it by a strategic object where observance of certain security measures is required. The water area of adjacent type opening access not only to the sea, but also internal routes. To provide safe pass of the ships, active interaction with nearby ports where experts exchange fresh information on changes in navigation, state of emergency, regime innovations and so forth is supported.

Port state control ensures safety in port – documentation is checked, the new instructions and resolutions controlling functionality of many services are created. Pilot conducting is carried out by 12 firms. Careful testing is undergone by all vessels, both foreign, and domestic.

For increased security on an object, experts introduced digital technologies to the sphere of the notification and information (schedules of movement of the ships, data and other information it is transferred in a digital form).

Internal security

For timely transmission of messages about storm warnings, weather forecasts and so forth, the shore radio station is used. To improve signal transmission, full replacement by the equipment of new generation is planned.

In addition, the territory was equipped with 12 automated video surveillance posts. With their help the control of all actions on objects, excepting the plunder facts and so forth is made.
