The river port of Kama was created around 1850. River port on the Kama River, in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny. It is one of the oldest enterprises in the city, the Republic of Tatarstan and the entire Kama region. In the Soviet period, the river port Naberezhnye Chelny was one of the ten largest ports in the USSR and had a huge property complex.
Since the 1960s, more convenient and economical ships and diesel-electric vehicles began to go on Kama. In the mid-1970s, hydrofoil vessels appeared - Rockets and Meteors.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, difficult times began for the river fleet, which continue today.
The river port allows the handling of dry cargo and passenger vessels of the mixed type of river sea navigation. There is a pier for processing, storage of freight and containers.
