Onega Shipyard
The history of shipbuilding in Petrozavodsk dates back more than 70 years. Over the years, the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant has experienced a variety of times from the heyday of the enterprise to bankruptcy and subsequent revival. Now it is one of the largest enterprises in this industry, equipped with modern equipment and capable of repairing and manufacturing vessels for various purposes that meet the requirements of the Maritime and River Shipping Registers.
History of Ship Repair in Petrozavodsk
In 1944, it was decided to create an enterprise capable of repairing ships of the White Sea-Onega Shipping Company. To create the plant, the territory was chosen on which, before the Great Patriotic War, a ski factory was located, which was seriously destroyed during the war years.
The first task that needed to be solved by the forces of the new enterprise was the restoration of ships damaged and sunk in the course of hostilities. Then began the development of the manufacture of new steamships, barges and tugs. Between 1957 and 1981, the plant changed its name three times, but continued to service ships of the shipping company and produce new ones. Including work was carried out on the conversion of steamships into motor ships.
In the 90s of the last century, a joint Russian-German enterprise for the assembly of dry cargo ships with a deadweight of 2300 tons was included in the plant. The staff of the shipyard was trained in Germany, and the company received a new name - Onega Shipyard. Thanks to the development of this new project for itself, the plant back in the 2000s successfully produced tankers and dry cargo ships on orders from domestic and foreign companies.
In 2012, the most difficult period in the life of the shipyard began. The plant was declared bankrupt and actually ceased to function. Workers have long been unpaid. The equipment of the enterprise almost sold out at the price of scrap metal. But in 2014, the shipyard became the property of Rospromport. The very next year, she resumed her work under the name of the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant.
Shipyard Capabilities Today
Onega Shipyard is a modern enterprise capable of performing the most difficult tasks in the field of repair, maintenance and construction of ships of various classes. The shipyard has more than 400 employees. There is its own engineering service and design department.
A successful geographical location makes it possible to directly conduct ships from the main rivers and seas washing the shores of the European part of the country. So, for example, the first order of the enterprise after the resumption of work was the complete reconstruction of the Yenisei boat. After the completion of work, the boat serves as a floating pilot base. The first vessel of its own construction, the Krutoyar boat, was ordered to work in St. Petersburg. And one of the ships, built in 2017, was delivered to the Black Sea on its own.
Also among the projects completed by the plant are vessels for various purposes, built according to the following projects:
Also, by order of the administration of the city of Petrozavodsk, a new pontoon bridge was built, connecting the 2 parts of one of the districts of the city, separated by a strait.
In addition to the various vessels described above, the Onega Shipbuilding Plant has all the necessary technological and production capabilities for the construction of vessels of the CCA5712LS project. This is designed specifically for the industrial extraction of crabs.
Onega Shipyard provides a full range of services for repair, modernization and maintenance of ships up to 140 m long, up to 16.5 wide and weighing up to 2300 tons. The maximum deadweight of ships being repaired is 7,000 tons. The depth of the navigable fairway is up to 4 m.
At the shipyard production sites, all types of repair work, painting, sticking, screw maintenance are performed. The plant also maintains ship engines, boiler equipment, pipelines of all types and other ship engineering systems. The shipyard takes on the repair of electric motors and other electrical units, repairs and replaces ship furniture, as well as other types of restoration and maintenance work.
