The discovery port, one of the largest Pacific ports in Russia, is located on the northwest coast, the Sea of Japan, in Nakhodka Bay.
Navigation in the port is open all year round. On the approaches to Nakhodka Bay, the depth is more than 40 meters, on an external raid up to 28 meters. Depths on the fairway leading to the commercial port allow ships to pass, with a draft of up to 13 meters. Ships with a draft of 11 meters are accepted for treatment at the cargo berths of the sea commercial port.
The deep-sea section of the pier of the oil port is accepted by ships, with a draft of up to 12 meters, a length of 230 meters and a width of up to 40 meters. Tankers with a draft of no more than 6.8 meters, a length of 120 meters, and a width of up to 30 meters can moor to the remaining berths of the oil fleet.
In summer, southeastern winds prevail in the bays of Nakhodka and Vostok; skid from the sea of a large zoo is possible, posing a threat to ships standing at the northern wall in Nakhodka Bay. In winter, northeast winds dominate. When Nakhodka Bay freezes, navigation is carried out using icebreakers.
