The Semikarakor Museum of History and Local Lore appeared on the cultural map of the Rostov Region in 1997.

Kochetovsky hydroelectric complex is a low-pressure hydroelectric complex on the Don River, located southeast of the village of Kochetovskaya, by which it got its name.

The reason for the creation of this museum was the request of veterans of the Great Patriotic War to perpetuate the memory of the feat of the Soviet man at the front and rear.

Soon after the opening, the museum became one of the centers of military-patriotic education of the younger generation of the Semikarakor district. For students of all schools of the district, courage lessons, local history hours, memorial days, thematic evenings were held here.

Within the museum, visitors can familiarize themselves with the life and ethnography of the village of Semikarakorskaya in the late XIX - first half of the XX century, see beautiful works of art by Rostov artists.
