Cruiser Aurora is the most famous cruiser in Russia, located in St. Petersburg. He was a defender in several wars at once: in the Russian-Japanese and in the First World War. Also, Cruiser Aurora was a symbol of the 1917 revolution.
The main prerequisite for the design of such a cruiser was the poor martial law of Russia in those years. Japan strengthened its position, everything went to war.
Therefore, it was decided to strengthen the Russian fleet. And already in 1900, on May 11, the cruiser was launched. At such a solemn event, Emperor Nicholas II himself was present.
During the Russo-Japanese War, the cruiser Aurora fell into a terrible position, being at the Battle of Tsushima. On that day, a huge number of people died on Aurora, and the cruiser itself needed serious repairs.
After major repairs, the cruiser was put on eternal parking at Petrograd embankment.
Today, the cruiser Aurora is a museum ship that has retained the functions of a working ship. In addition to the fact that the cruiser is a museum, cadets of the Naval Institute are sworn on board. The Aurora cruiser is one of the most visited museums in St. Petersburg and an object of cultural heritage.
