On March 15, 1972, the Kostroma marina was renamed the Kostroma river port of the Volga United River Shipping Company.

OJSC Kostroma River Port operates in the transport services market. The main areas of activity of the enterprise:

• production and sale of non-metallic building materials, (NSM) (sand, enriched sand-gravel mixture),

• transportation of NSM (sand, SCG, gravel, crushed stone), loading and unloading works,

• passenger transportation, excursion services for tourists,

• oil transportation, renting for freight transportation of a tugboat fleet equipped with a qualified crew.

In addition to the traditional services for the transportation of passengers on suburban lines and the provision of services for the cargo and passenger crossing, the port provides services for the integrated servicing of ships at the port berths, tourist services, and the number of agency agreements under which OJSC Kostroma River Port implements vouchers for tourist ships is increasing.
