Located on the eastern coast of the Crimea Peninsula, in the western part of the Kerch Strait, which connects the Azov and Black Seas. Navigation is carried out year-round. The seaport carries out round-the-clock work and has a multilateral cargo and passenger checkpoint across the border of the Russian Federation.
Winds prevail in the port of Kerch:
- northeastern, with a characteristic large strength and duration

The wind greatly affects the flow rate in the strait and ranges from 0.5 to 0.1 knots per hour. With strong winds and associated drift of water from the Sea of Azov, it can reach 3 knots per hour.
The port can work with dangerous goods of 4,3,2 and 9th categories.
It also has a passenger jetty.
The port of Kerch takes ships with a maximum length of up to 200 meters and a draft of up to 8 meters. Kerch is a modern port equipped with the necessary machines and mechanisms, processes up to 2.5 million tons of cargo per year.
