Kalachevsky River Port was founded in 1952 on the basis of a marina in the city of Kalach-on-Don when the construction of the Volga-Don Shipping Canal was completed. The port is located on the left bank of the Don River in the artificial backwater of the Tsimlyansk reservoir, 9 km. above the entrance to the Volga-Don shipping channel (13th lock), and is the second largest port on the Don River.

Kalachev River Port in 1953 carried out its first cargo operations. The port of Kalach on the Don (Volgograd region) is located on the Don River 80 km from Volgograd and 350 km from Rostov-on-Don.

Today, the port is one of the lowest cost and logistics efficient transshipment complexes in the region. Zaton Kalachevsky port is located at 505 km. Don River.
