Since its inception, ICoS membership has largely consisted of local Irish shipping companies or companies trading directly between Ireland and the UK.

    In recent years, the work of the Irish Maritime Development Authority, IMDO and others has made Ireland a more attractive location for international shipping companies to set up.

    This has resulted in the expansion of ICoS membership to include a number of companies that rarely, if ever, trade in Ireland but still wish to play an active role in ICoS and are committed to the development of the shipping industry in Ireland.
