Admiral F. F. Ushakov State Maritime University is No. 1 in the list of higher educational institutions in Novorossiysk. It trains over 4,000 people in 28 specialties at 3 faculties. History of the Maritime University in Novorossiysk

    It all started in 1966, when the start was given to the creation of the NVIMU maritime school complex. The customer was the Novorossiysk shipping company. The Novorossiyskmorstroy company took on the construction of the facility. The first stage was ready by 1975.

    In 1992, the school was officially called an academy, and now the abbreviation looked like this - NGMA. The institute became the starting point for dozens of naval officers. Many of them became commanders, hold the rank of admirals, scientists. Some graduates work as flagship specialists, public figures and more. 

    In 1999, a school of technicians appeared. It trains warrant officers with vocational secondary education. Later, faculties in 28 areas appeared. Students study for 2 years and 10 months and become petty officers with secondary military special training. There are a marine and transport colleges. 

    Kondratyev S. I. served as the director of the academy for eleven years. Later, Marichev I. V. took over. And just in 2011, the academy was retrained as the University named after Admiral F. F. Ushakov. Surprisingly, in 2012, the first director Sergei Ivanovich Kondratyev returned to the native walls of the educational institution, and to this day he heads the maritime university.     The university is the only higher educational institution in the south of our country that graduates maritime specialists. First, they will have practice at sea, and then work at ship repair / shipbuilding yards, in ports, shipping companies. Cadets most often go to sea on the vessels of PAO Novoship, cooperation with which is confirmed by the adopted memorandum. Cadets can get a job on the fleet of PAO Novoship after training. Internship at sea is also available to scientists and teachers of the University. Cadets who will undergo internship on these vessels will receive an additional scholarship. Target groups are created. Selection is based on the personal qualities of future sailors, academic performance and recommendations. According to statistics, for example, in the Sovcomflot group of companies, more than 60% of specialists graduated from this maritime institution.
