In 1931, basin newspapers were created by shipping companies on almost all major rivers.
For over 80 years, they have been covering the life and work of their work collectives, being, in fact, their "watch log".
The first printed publication in our basin was published under the name "Ob-Irtyshsky Vodnik".
Then it was transformed several times, changed its name and in the last few decades it was published under the name "Rechnik Irtysha".
The newspaper of the Irtysh river workers has come a long and difficult way.
Its first issues were published in Tobolsk in 1931, where the Shipping Company Administration was located at the time. The first issues of the naval newspaper are stored in the Tobolsk State Archives. The very first "Ob-Irtyshsky Vodnik" was published on September 1, 1931.
Now a new newspaper with the well-forgotten old name “Ob-Irtyshsky Vodnik”, founded by the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Ob-Irtyshvodput Administration”, is destined to revive the traditions of a single printed organ for the entire Ob-Irtysh basin.
