The sea port in the city of Astrakhan, Astrakhan region is located in the Trusovsky district of the city, on the right bank of the Volga. According to the register of seaports, there are 26 berths in the port of Astrakhan. The length of the mooring front of the seaport is 54 kilometers, the capacity of cargo terminals is 9934 thousand tons per year.

In winter, the river and the adjacent sea waters freeze. In harsh winters, ice holds from December to March, mild winters from January to February. Ships in these months are wired using icebreakers.

From the Caspian Sea to Astrakhan leads the Volga-Caspian Canal, 102 miles long, 5 meters deep, wide, at a navigation depth of 100-120 meters. Two-sided movement of ships, up to 126 meters long, 16 meters wide and 4.2 meters draft, is allowed along the canal.AMP Caspian Sea
