The Arctic Institute of V.I. Voronin is a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping named after Admiral S.O. Makarov. 

    The branch was created by order of September 11, 2012.

By decree of Empress Catherine II, a nautical school was established in Kholmogory, the birthplace of the great Russian scientist M.V. Lomonosov. Which was the first educational institution in Russia to train specialists for the needs of the merchant fleet. 

    The Arctic Marine Institute originated from it. Until 01.01.2010, it was the Arkhangelsk, Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Naval School named after V.I. Voronin.
