The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping is an international classification society founded in 1913. The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping is a state institution of technical supervision and classification of sea vessels, subordinate to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) maintains a register of ships in the Russian Federation based in St. Petersburg, and is also a maritime classification society. Its activities are aimed at improving the safety of navigation, the safety of life at sea, the safety of ships, the safe transportation of goods, the environmental safety of ships, the prevention of pollution from ships, as well as the implementation of permits issued by maritime administrations and customers.

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping develops and continuously improves its rules and guidelines in accordance with the requirements of international standards to ensure maritime safety and prevent pollution.
