Since its foundation in 1953, the journal "Problems of Ichthyology" has been the leading national scientific publication on all branches of ichthyology and biological foundations of fisheries. 

    All articles published in the journal are peer-reviewed and contain original information that is the result of scientific research on taxonomy, evolution, molecular biology, morphology, fauna, zoogeography, genetics, physiology, ecology, behavior, reproduction, embryology, invasions and protection of fish and fisheries biology, as well as some applied aspects. 

    The journal publishes articles on marine, oceanic and freshwater fish from any region of the globe.

    In order to strengthen ties with the international scientific community, the Editorial Board and Editorial Council of the journal "Problems of Ichthyology" invite ichthyologists from all over the world to cooperate.

    Articles by foreign authors submitted in English, which have received positive reviews and are approved by the Editorial Board, are published in the English version of the journal. Both journals (in English – Journal of Ichthyology and in Russian – “Voprosy Ikhtiologii”) are published almost simultaneously. 

    Articles by foreign authors are subject to publication only in the journal in English in the author’s version. 

    The journal “Voprosy Ikhtiologii” is included in the White List of scientific journals and the List of the Higher Attestation Commission. The journal is presented on the platforms of the Russian Scientific Research Center and eLibrary.
