The National Classification Society of the United States is the American Bureau of Shipping, which monitors the construction of ships under construction in the United States.
The Bureau is one of the 13 members of the International Association of Classification Societies.
Now it consists of 154 people, including all the most famous US figures in the field of shipbuilding. In addition, the government is a personal member of the bureau: the head of the calculation and materials department of the navy, the head of the shipbuilding bureau, the coast guard commander, the chief engineer of the coast guard, the chairman of the maritime commission and additionally a representative from the coast guard and an observer engineer from the Ministry of War.
